About Me
Hi! I'm Lola Oliverio. I am a junior undergraduate student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I am double-majoring in Media and Journalism and Communication Studies with a concentration in rhetorical studies.
I am currently a senior writer for the City & State desk at The Daily Tar Heel, where I also serve as a staffer for the publication's copy desk. Over the summer, I was the City & State desk editor. I previously attended UNC Charlotte, where I worked as the assistant editor for the opinion section of Niner Times, Charlotte's student-run newspaper.
I am originally from the Chapel Hill-Carrboro area and found my passion for journalism through writing for my high school's newspaper, Proconian. I love writing about social issues, public health, local politics and music!
Additionally, I am an intern for the Fall 2024 semester at Triangle Media Partners.
When I'm not writing, I am a DJ at WXYC 89.3 and coordinate their blog. In my free time, I play guitar and love to attend concerts and do crossword puzzles.
